Alex and his crew participate in dock jumping events across the US. Two of the venues we jump in are Dock Dogs and SRS.
Alex began his dock career in fall of 2005. He was only 10 months old at the time. Given his natural love to jump, swim, and his enthusiasm, we figured he’d have a blast and jump right off of the dock. Not a chance! He ran to the end of the dock and barked at his toy as it floated away from him. He eventually jumped in to the pool off of the exit ramp, and we were proud of him for just getting wet.
In 2006, Alex attended two Dock Dogs events. After watching big sis Abby fly off the dock, he quickly became eager to join in the fun. In 2007, Alex attended over thirteen events in ten different states.
As his confidence grew, so did the distances. Alex attempted the Extreme Vertical “high jump” in Dubuque, Iowa, in June 2007. He started out as a Cadet at 5′2″ and jumped his way up to 7′, two inches at a time. That night, Alex became the 7th dog in the world to ever jump 7′ vertically in Dock Dogs. The following weekend, Alex earned himself one of twelve invites to the Dock Dogs World Championships by jumping 7′ again in Kansas City.
